Personal Devotions

At CCIW, helping people to understand and develop a rich personal devotional life is one of the core things that we do.

Prayer

In prayer, we join Jesus our great High Priest, in praising God in his glory, thanking God for his gifts, confessing our sins to the Father who knows us, and asking God to pour out his grace on a needy world. To assist us in developing a rich life of prayer, we provide a range of resources:

  • regular seminars on how to pray
  • monthly newsletters about what's happening in the life of CCIW, and weekly updates on our linked ministries, to inform our prayers
  • occasional prayer retreats
  • quarterly CCIW prayer meetings

Bible reading

The Apostle Paul encourages us to "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly" and the Apostle Peter encourages us to "long for the pure, spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow into salvation". Regular reading of and meditation upon Scripture is a vital part of a rich devotional life. But reading the Bible can be a daunting task. It is large and unfamiliar - or perhaps too familiar! To help us be people soaked in the Word of God, we provide:

  • Seminars in how to read the Bible productively
  • Bible reading booklets, with a program of Bible readings and space for notes and exploration.
